Sometimes you’ll discover the relationship wasn’t meant to last because of what your lover or partner does not say.

We’re not always aware of the obvious.  Have you ever thought about what your lover DOES NOT SAY, rather than what your lover does say?

Sometimes, nothing is what it seems to be! Did your experience teach you something about yourself that you needed to change, or did your experience teach you something about someone else, a revelation that took the wind out of your sails because you felt like a weed that was plucked out of your lover’s garden?

Sometimes you’ll discover the relationship wasn’t meant to last because your partner pulled away and stopped answering texts and phone calls. The relationship started out like a romantic whirlwind, but ended as fast as it started!

This week’s question comes from a man who has questions about a recent breakup with his long-term girlfriend.  Can this relationship be salvaged?  She broke up with him (via email) in April and then again after a brief union in the middle of May.

He says he’s had a difficult time dealing with some of the obsessiveness in the relationship, as has she, but that she has been resolute about not wanting to reunite at this point.

He’s been looking at the astrology behind this breakup and notices that it coincided with the recent Pluto retrograde cycle as it moved back and forth over their natal Venuses. He wonders whether this transit is inclined to make it more difficult to bring resolution or whether there’s still hope for the two of them to reconcile. At the very least he wants to remain friends; he doesn’t want to lose the connection entirely.

This week Safina takes a look at both of their natal charts, along with the transits that were in place at the time of the breakup and the April Full Moon Lunar Eclipse that affected both of them.

Starting with her (we’ll call her Emily), the following is her natal chart with the Eclipse positions along the outer perimeter.

From Safina: Just before the break up there was a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on 4/4/2015. Eclipses bring endings and new beginnings. This Eclipse aspected her 5th house (romance the relationship with you, love affairs, creativity, fun, hobbies, risk taking, gambling, and children), and her 11th house (hopes, wishes, mentors, like-minded people, and her social network of friends that she hangs out with).

At that time, her relationship with you and her social network of friends was in opposition with each other. Full Moon Eclipses seem to bring situations to a head. Something was going to fall away because Pluto (the planet of transformation, out with the old and in with the new energy) and Uranus (the great awakener, the planet associated with sudden and abrupt change) were also involved here — as part of at square with the Sun and Moon.

Let’s see how this Eclipse aspected her personality and what was manifesting in her thoughts on 4/4/2015, during that time.

The combination of the Sun, Ascendant, and Moon: The Sun describes what you want, the Ascendant describes how you’ll go about getting what you want, and the Moon describes what you need and desire to feel secure.

She was being pulled in several different directions at that time and did not know if she wanted a relationship or her freedom.

Because Pluto was also involved (squaring the Sun / Uranus and Moon), the 9th house was also emphasized.

This Eclipse shows that you were going to be blind-sided because of it aspected the 12th house, the isolation house that sends you into healing from a traumatic event that was going to take the wind out of your sails. Something was going to fall away from you because of the Pluto square to the Sun and Moon, which was less than 1 degree away. Planets that are within one degree of an Eclipse have a heavy impact on what will happen!

The day of the breakup on 5/12/2015:

Transiting Saturn Rx conjunct your natal Sun. Saturn (fate and destiny, and the lord of karma) conjunct your natal Sun (the Sun describes what you want).

Transiting Saturn Rx (the do-over or a restriction) was in retrograde motion and backpedaling, on the way back to the 7th of exclusive relationships, bringing you into a square with your relationship. Saturn has been moving back and forth between your 8th house (merging, sex, debt, other people’s money (intermingled assets), death, and transformation (new beginnings or endings) and your 7th house (relationships, including relationship conflicts such as breakups, separations, and divorces, etc).

The connection between Saturn and a personal planet such as the Sun is important because it provides the cement for a long-lasting relationship. However, Saturn can also cause problems because Saturn is karmic! Saturn also makes a person too critical and judgmental.

The Planet Mars feels odd in the 12^th house, like a square peg trying to fit into a round hole, but Mars will make the adjustment and work behind the scenes in secrecy and takes action in the dark. The 12^th house is also related to the night shift that works in a secretive way.

Mercury Rx (retrograde) is at 20 degrees in my natal birth chart in the 11^th house of hopes, wishes and friends. People with Mercury Rx in their natal birth chart process information differently than people with Mercury direct. Mercury Rx people struggle with his or her mind being overloaded with thought and think too much, or double-check and review thoughts before communicating, or shut down and say no, and do nothing because the overload feels too disturbing!

The Lunar Eclipse on September 27, 2015 is at 4 degrees and 40 minutes, and all the planets in your birth chart that are within 1 degree seem to jump in. The energies of these planets will motivate you to take action and resolve something.

The Full Moon is in the zodiac sign of Aries (the cardinal fire sign that initiates change). Aries is hardworking and energetic, but impulsive because Aries is ruled by the Planet Mars. Aries has this love for adventure, anything that provides an outlet for boundless energy. Aries initiates change and take risks!

Libra carries the Venus torch of wants, desires and needs and related to the scales that must be balanced. However, Libra will react to situations and swing from one side to the other until he or she is able to balance the contract between the head and the heart.

The Moon resides in the 9^th house (the Moon represents my emotions and what I need and desire). The Moon is in the sign of Aries, the pioneer that is courageous, independent, assertive, and has this instinct to lead.

The Sun and Moon are opposite each other and create an opposition that brings me into a challenge because there is a conflict with what I want, need and desire to do! This conflict is related to me and another person, or with a situation. The opposition forces me to resolve something, and brings growth and development when the tug of war is resolved.

Chiron (the wounded healer asteroid) is at the same degree of the Lunar Eclipse in my natal birth chart and jumps into this tug of war. People with Chiron Rx seem to hold on to hurt longer and have a hard time forgetting what happened. Chiron Rx people will internalize the situation more than people with Chiron direct in their natal chart.

Chiron is in the sign of Aquarius. Aquarius likes to help others, but sometimes gets stuck with learning a healing lesson. Aquarius needs to accept the individuality of other people that are not going to accept help, or agree with Aquarius’s way of thinking.

Chiron brings you into the past, the time when you are going to dust off an old wound that you stored away, or the baggage you carried around for a long time that was painful.

Chiron orbits between the planets Saturn and Uranus, and this is where it get complicated. You need to look at the placement of Saturn (the taskmaster that makes you work hard to resolve your problems, but Saturn also represents lessons to be learned through trial and error, or the time when you will experience bad luck) and Uranus (the planet of the future and not the past, different, unusual, and does not go with the flow).

Saturn and Uranus but heads with each other because Saturn represents the old, and Uranus represents the new. So when you are working with these planets you need to look at things in the old and new way and find a center, otherwise you are going to meet Murphy (the time when something will go wrong).

Saturn is in my 4^th house in my natal birth chart of home, related to close family members and personal relationships and shows that I was going to get wounded because Saturn is in a square to my Sun.

Saturn just leaped in my 5^th house of romance, love affairs, creativity, fun, hobbies, gambling, and children. I have learned that when Saturn leaps into a new house, prepare for a change, a turning point that will be good or bad. Saturn spent the time of June 16 to September 18 in retrograde motion, and this was the time of tying up loose ends that were karmically affecting my future direction.  

Saturn is in the sign of Sagittarius (the first decan of Sagittarius is related to a Shaman, Medicine Man, or Healer). With Saturn in the 5^th house, I will take a more serious approach to healing my romance sector during the first decan of Sagittarius.

Uranus is in my 9^th house of higher education, long distance travel, philosophy, religion, spirituality, and the uncharted areas that I have not explored yet in retrograde motion.

Uranus is also in my 12^th house in my natal birth chart (the secret vault related to the area that you store hidden secrets, or the hidden things that arise that you do not know about, isolation, healing from a traumatic situation, hidden enemies, secret affairs, illness, hospitals, and prisons).

Uranus in the 12^th house shows that I was going to get wounded from something unexpected. When you are hit with something hidden, it will make you feel like you are confined in a place that you do not like.

Uranus will be in retrograde motion from July 26 to December 25, and this will be the time of tying up loose ends that are karmically affecting my direction related to the 9^th house. Uranus is the wild card planet, unpredictable, freedom loving, and I might experience a personality behavior during this time, an underground revolution to start a new beginning to get back on track!

Uranus is in the sign of Aries and represents that I will feel driven, and everything that was buried might emerge. I might be ready to deal with this buried experience!

Age of 42:  At the age of 42, my marriage ended and I went through a divorce, and at that time, Uranus was located in my 7th house of marriage.

The Tower: The ending of my marriage!

 Age of 49:  At the age of 49, my fiancé had to go away to protect his life because he had death threats! Uranus was in my 8th house of endings and rebirth.

The Five of Cups:  A painful loss of a romantic relationship!

Age of 56:  At the age of 56, Uranus was moving through my 9th house of higher education, spirituality, and the uncharted area that I had not explored, and my old career suddenly ended! I started a new spiritual career and started reading for clients using the Tarot, Astrology Charts and my Psychic abilities.

The Hierophant: I started working in a spiritual career to help others, and this career threw me into a lifelong study.

In the fall of 1999, my brother was living with me and nagging me on a daily basis to start dating again. He would say, “Sis, it’s about time that you got back out there again!” He suggested that I put an ad in the personals to find a man because everyone was doing it, and it was free.

He planted a seed in my mind, and after several months of careful thought, I did indeed place an ad in the personals that November. Immediately afterward, I felt like an idiot! My mother and I composed the ad together, calling for a twenty-four-karat gentleman, not in terms of money, but rather in terms of morals and good family upbringing.

I felt that since times were changing, this endeavor was worth the attempt even though it was not something I was especially comfortable with. I had a lot of calls from men whom I would meet at the nearby pancake restaurant for coffee. I felt really uncomfortable doing this and met some nice guys, but also some strange ones as well.

Finally, one night I met a Libra man, the first one that I genuinely liked, and he told me that he never did these types of things and had, in fact, carried the personal classified ad in the back of his truck for three weeks before daring to give a call. From the time that we met at the restaurant, we were together all the time, and he proposed to me during Valentine’s week in the year 2000.

When I first met him, he was so comfortable to be around that I felt like I already knew him. He was a beautiful person with amazing green eyes that pulled me inward. He was brilliant, and he told me that when he was in college, his professor would call him up to the front of the class to assist with the explanation of concepts and teaching the class when the professor was unable to break through to the students.

His brilliance never made others uncomfortable. In fact, everyone loved him, including my parents, and he got along well with them. We were together for a short time, about four years, until he was forced to join the witness protection program in order to protect his life.

I think that was the worst time in my life, and I got sick because of all the stress. One minute I was planning my wedding date, and the next minute he was gone with no way of knowing whether our paths would ever cross again. It happened with sickening rapidity and in fact, I never got over it.  After he left, we were able to see each other and converse a few times, but the year 2007 brought an end to all communication, and I never heard from him again.  I recall that all communication stopped right after his mother passed. He was never the same after this because he loved his mother so much and blamed himself for the poor care she received in his absence.

His mother told him that she sensed her impending death, and implored him to fly her to Michigan to be buried next to her husband. His mother’s last words to him directed him to  “Never stop living!”

When my fiancé was young, his father was told by a fortune teller that he was going to struggle with something connected to his past life and that there was karma that was going to stay with him over his lifetime. I really never thought much about that until it all happened.

I went into meditation and prayer to talk to my soulmate and asked the angels to help me. We all have a connection with our guardian angel because your guardian angel is assigned to you from the day of your birth and stays with you until the day of your death, through thick and thin because guardian angels are your protectors and teachers!

I also learned that when you ask your guardian angel for help, your guardian angel is going to help you find the answer. You may not hear your guardian angel speaking to you, but your guardian angel will send a message to you because they are spiritual messengers that help you solve your heartfelt confusion. I asked my guardian angel if I would ever see my soulmate again, and my question was answered through the vision I had!  After he left my life, I had a vision while I was awake, featuring a cartoon reptile the size of a dinosaur. But this reptile, instead of seeming dangerous, had very sad eyes, showing a sorrow that penetrated to the very soul.

I feel the reason I was shown this cartoon dinosaur was to tell me that my fiancé was going to become extinct just as the dinosaurs did and that I was never going to see him again. I feel the reason my guardian angel showed me a cartoon dinosaur was so that I would not freak out! I also felt this vision was telling me that we had a past life together as well because the dinosaur refers to the past.

It took me a long time to interpret this vision, but three weeks before his mother passed, I had another vision in which I saw the same cartoon dinosaur, but it was tiny like his mother.  In the vision, the tiny cartoon dinosaur came out of the ground, like a seed that was sprouting. The tiny dinosaur tried to look at me, but it died before it could raise its head. I feel this vision was telling me that she was going to pass suddenly and not be able to say goodbye. This vision disturbed me greatly, but everything finally made sense to me.

I feel the experience with meeting my soulmate really opened my eyes and taught me that we do have soulmates and past lives and that past karma, sadly, repeats itself.

Chiron (the wounded healer) joined up with Pluto (the transformation planet) and Uranus (unexpected changes) at 24 degrees bringing out spiritual matters and personal growth through a painful relationship transformation.

Chiron represents the area in your life were you feel different, isolated, and unable to heal yourself because of something you went through. The Karmic Relationship

He had to leave my life, and our time together was over because he was born with a “Nasty Karmic Square” in his natal birth chart, related to his career, that of helping others, but also related to outside karmic sources that were going to bring unexpected trouble.

I also learned that soul mate patterns invariably repeat themselves, meaning that situations from the past life recur; yet inevitably. It also means that separation rises again, for the past’s repetitions are always beyond your control.  Unfortunately, we did end up separated — not by our own choice, but by the inexorable force of outside sources!

Mr. Libra was my best friend, best partner, and the best of the best. I loved this man deeply, and he was a 24 karat gentleman, inside and out!
